iPhone 17 Pro 3D Renders Hint at a Bold Camera Redesign—But Not Everyone Will Like It

Apple's iPhone 17 Pro is still months away from launch, but early leaks are already painting a picture of a significant design change. While previous rumors suggested a subtle rearrangement of the camera module, new 3D renders shared by Jon Prosser indicate a wider camera bar that spans the entire width of the device.

This shift in design could make the iPhone 17 Pro look noticeably different from its predecessors-but not necessarily in a way that everyone will love.

A Camera Bar That Changes Everything

According to Prosser's latest video on Front Page Tech, Apple might be moving away from the square camera bump we've seen since the iPhone 11 Pro. Instead, the iPhone 17 Pro could feature a wide horizontal camera bar stretching across the rear of the phone.

The triple-lens setup remains unchanged, positioned on the left side of the bar, while the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR sensor move to the right. What stands out is the sheer size of this module-it's taller than expected, giving the phone a bulkier look.

Interestingly, this layout resembles the design language used by Xiaomi's Poco phones, a budget series that Apple typically wouldn't be compared to. If these leaks hold up, this could be one of the biggest aesthetic changes to the iPhone in years.

No Two-Tone Finish, But a Darker Camera Bar

Some previous reports suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro might feature a two-tone back panel, similar to older iPhones. However, Prosser refutes this, claiming that the device will maintain a single-color rear panel. The only contrast will come from the darker camera bar, which Apple is allegedly using to add some visual separation.

The iPhone 17 Pro is also rumored to be lighter than its predecessor, though there's no word yet on what material changes might contribute to this weight reduction.

How Reliable Are These Leaks?

While Jon Prosser has been accurate in the past, he has also shared renders that didn't materialize. That said, the consistent leaks about a camera bar suggest that Apple is at least testing this design. Whether it will make it to production remains uncertain.

Apple is known for iterating on its designs multiple times before finalizing them, so until official schematics leak or case manufacturers confirm the dimensions, this new look remains speculation.

What This Means for iPhone Users

  • A wider camera bar could change how the iPhone 17 Pro feels in hand, especially if it adds weight.
  • Camera performance might see improvements, but we don't know if Apple is introducing new sensor technology yet.
  • If the design shifts toward a bulkier layout, long-time iPhone fans may have mixed reactions.

With the iPhone 17 lineup expected later this year, more leaks are likely to surface. Until then, Apple's design choices remain a mystery-but if this camera bar makes it to the final version, the iPhone's signature look could be in for its biggest change in years.
