iPhone 18 Pro Max Key Specs Tipped Ahead of Launch: A 5,000mAh Battery Could Be on the Way
Most iPhone leaks tend to circle the same areas. Cameras, displays, performance gains. This time, the conversation is drifting somewhere Apple usually avoids spotlighting directly: battery size.

New information shared by Digital Chat Station suggests Apple could be preparing a meaningful jump in battery capacity for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Not a radical leap, but enough to signal a change in priorities.
iPhone 18 Pro Max Battery
According to the leak, Apple is testing batteries around the 5,000mAh mark for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, with some international variants reportedly pushing slightly higher during internal testing.
If that figure makes it to the final product, it would be the first time an iPhone crosses the 5,000mAh line. Apple has stayed comfortably below that number for years, even as phones have grown larger and heavier.
A Thicker Phone Might Be the Cost
However, there’s likely a physical trade-off here. A report from late 2025 suggested the iPhone 18 Pro Max could weigh more than 240 grams, putting it on track to become Apple’s heaviest flagship so far.
If Apple really is increasing battery capacity, that added weight becomes easier to justify.
Efficiency Still Does the Heavy Lifting
Battery size is only half the equation. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also expected to debut Apple’s A20 Pro chip, potentially built on a 2nm process.
That matters because efficiency gains compound. A slightly larger battery paired with more efficient silicon can deliver real-world improvements that feel bigger than the numbers suggest, especially during camera use, video recording, or long navigation sessions.
Apple Isn’t Chasing Android Extremes
That said, this doesn’t put Apple anywhere near the battery arms race happening on Android. Some manufacturers are now shipping phones built almost entirely around endurance.

Honor, for instance, recently introduced the Honor Win and Win RT with massive 10,000mAh batteries. Realme has taken a similar route with its Realme P4 Power lineup, offering a 10,001mAh battery.
