iPhone SE 4 2024 Launch Likely Delayed Due to In-house 5G Modem Issues

The iPhone SE 4 which is expected to replace the iPhone SE 2022 model is not going to launch next year. The launch has been delayed because of the in-house 5G modem Apple is developing running into issues, according to analysts. Instead, the Cupertino giant will likely launch the budget 5G iPhone sometime in 2025.

The iPhone SE 4 5G is likely to come with a larger display and an Apple-developed 5G model, which is going to be a departure from the Qualcomm 5G modems that iPhones have been carrying so far.

According to a report, the iPhone SE 4 launch has been delayed. In a research note shared by analysts, it is suggested that the in-house 5G modem Apple has been developing will not be ready in time by next year. Two analysts suggested that the Apple 5G modems will start production in 2025.

Noted Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo suggests that the iPhone SE 4 will also likely launch with a larger OLED display, instead of the smaller LCD displays used so far in the iPhone SE series. The display change is going to be the biggest change in the series, as per the analyst, bringing it closer to the design of the more recent iPhones since the radically redesigned iPhone X.

Kuo said the iPhone SE 4 will feature OLED displays from Beijing Oriental Electronics (BOE), which will supply 6.1-inch OLED displays for the smartphones. This will be a departure from LG and Samsung which has been supplying the iPhone SE with LCD displays so far.

The iPhone SE 2022 presently sports a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and runs on the Apple A15 Bionic chipset and comes with a single 12MP camera on the back and a 7MP front camera. The base 64GB of the smartphone was launched at Rs 43,900 while the 128GB and 256GB variants launched at Rs 48,900 and Rs 58,900 respectively.
