iPhone X Plus leak reveals a massive screen
The iPhone X Plus to feature a 6.5-inch display.
iPhone X Plus has been in the news for quite some time, and if the rumors are to be believed the device will come with a massive screen. According to a new images attained from a "trial run of production equipment" by MacRumors, shows the big screen on the alleged device.
In one the shots, the size can be clearly seen far larger than the iPhone X. This falls in line with analyst Ming Chi-Kuo's statement about the iPhone X Plus featuring a 6.5-inch display, which will larger than any of its rivals.
Additionally, MacRumors also notes both the flex cables seen in the photos and the part numbers align with existing formats "typically used by Apple" while "The rear design of the part is also very similar but not identical to the iPhone X display assembly."
The images have allegedly come from LG's plant in Vietnam. This also raises suspicion as Samsung is the exclusive supplier of the OLED panels for Apple's flagship, but the company has reportedly invested around three billion dollars in LG in 2017 to produce OLED panels for future iPhones to reduce reliance on on Samsung.
While it is hard to confirm the credibility of the leak, but the details mentioned all add up. Apple does a trial production runs well in advance of mass production. The date code on these images hints the trail took place during the 46th week of 2017.
Earlier, there were reports that the company will be launching three new iPhones in 2018. All three devices are expected to feature "Face ID" feature and lose the home button in favor of iPhone X's gestural navigation. The 6.1-inch iPhone device will not get a dual camera nor 3D Touch, according to a previous KGI report. Interestingly, other features expected to come to the iPhones are Gigabit LTE connectivity and dual SIM standby.
However, we are not sure if Apple will incorporate Intel's new modems that will facilitate with this functionality. Meanwhile, Kuo also expects iPhone X to ship a total of 62 million units in its lifetime, adding the company will cease production of this particular model mid-year.
