Why This Is Happening
iQOO and Vivo are the latest names to join a broader industry-wide price hike trend in India. The root cause is the ongoing global DRAM and NAND memory shortage, driven by AI data centres buying up chip capacity at high prices. Memory manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are prioritising more profitable AI server orders, which has squeezed supply for smartphone-grade memory.
Per a Counterpoint Research report, the shortage is expected to push smartphone prices up by 8 to 10% globally in 2026, and could stretch into 2027. OnePlus, Nothing, Realme, Xiaomi, and Samsung have already raised prices on a range of models earlier this year.
What This Means for Buyers
If a phone on this list was on your radar, your best bet right now is to check ongoing sales like the Flipkart June Epic Sale, where some of these phones may still be listed at pre-hike rates with bank offers on top. More brands are expected to follow soon, so the longer you wait, the fewer options you'll have.
