A Slim Budget Phone with Practical Design

Despite being positioned in the budget segment, the City 100 keeps a relatively slim profile at 7.65mm thickness. It features a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, reaching up to 700 nits of brightness—a useful feature in well-lit environments. While it doesn’t aim for top-tier resolution, the 83% NTSC color gamut and 1500:1 contrast ratio offer decent viewing quality for casual usage.

The device also includes itel’s Dynamic Bar 2.0, a functional UI layer that enables face unlock prompts, battery alerts, and call notifications in a subtle and integrated way.

Hardware That Covers the Basics Well

Powering the device is an octa-core Unisoc T7250 processor, coupled with 4GB of physical RAM, expandable up to 12GB with virtual RAM. Storage won’t be a constraint for most users, with 128GB of internal memory available out of the box.

Battery life is handled by a 5,200mAh unit, which supports 18W fast charging over USB-C. This is a useful step up from the slower charging speeds commonly seen in budget phones. itel also claims the phone is optimized for smoother usage over a five-year span, although real-world performance will depend on user habits and app updates.

Android 14 with Built-in AI Assistant

The City 100 runs on Android 14 and introduces Aivana 3.0, itel’s in-house AI assistant. The assistant isn’t limited to voice control—it adds some unique productivity tools, like text extraction using two fingers, image-to-document conversion (Word, PDF, Excel), AI writing assistance, and even address extraction from emails for navigation.

These features could benefit students and working professionals who use their phone for more than just media consumption.

Other Everyday Features

The phone offers a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster for controlling appliances, and dual-band Wi-Fi—a feature not always present in this segment. Camera specs include a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera, which are sufficient for routine usage but not the phone’s primary selling point.

The IP64 rating adds some splash and dust resistance, which is a welcome addition for users in tougher environments or those who simply need a more durable phone.

Availability and Launch Offers

itel City 100 is available through offline retailers across India in three color variants: Fairy Purple, Navy Blue, and Pure Titanium.

To attract early buyers, itel is offering a free screen replacement within the first 100 days, along with a complimentary magnetic speaker valued at ₹2,999 as part of a limited-time promotion.
