JioPhone 5G Launch, Availability Hinted: Price Suggests It Would Be The Most Affordable 5G Smartphone

Reliance Jio has been actively testing its JioPhone 5G, a budget Android smartphone optimized for the telecom operator's "True 5G" networks. Although Jio is yet to confirm the launch date of JioPhone 5G, it should arrive this month.

JioPhone 5G To launch On August 28, 2023?

The JioPhone 5G has been making multiple appearances on social media platforms. Reliance Jio, the telecom operator that will launch the smartphone mainly for its Indian subscribers, hasn't even acknowledged the existence of the device yet.

However, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Jio's parent company, has announced the date for its Annual General Meeting (AGM). This year's AGM will be held on August 28, 2023, at 2 PM (IST).

Jio hasn't been separated from Reliance Industries. Hence, rumors claim the telecom service provider will launch the JioPhone 5G at RIL's AGM.

The JioPhone 5G won't be the only product launched at the event at the end of this month. Reliance should also announce new plans for its 5G services. Jio has been offering complimentary access to its 5G networks to a few of its users via the "Jio Welcome Offer".

Reliance is also expected to announce additional details of its Jio AirFiber service as well. Jio AirFiber is essentially a home broadband service that relies on Jio's 5G networks. It offers an external 5G dish and a small device that will sit inside the house and offer Wi-Fi connectivity.

JioPhone 5G Specifications, Features, Price, And Availability (Leaked)

The JioPhone 5G is tipped to feature a 6.5-inch IPS LCD HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The Jio smartphone could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset, accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

There could be an 8MP front-facing camera on the JioPhone 5G. The Jio smartphone appears to have a dual-camera setup on the back, comprising a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.

The JioPhone 5G is expected to pack a large 5000mAh battery with support for 18W wired fast charging Some notable connectivity features of the JioPhone 5G include a side-fitted fingerprint sensor, a microSD card slot, and dual SIM support.

Jio is expected to restrict the primary SIM card slot for its SIM card. However, the secondary SIM card could be used as per the user's choice.

The JioPhone 5G is expected to support 5G bands, such as n3, n5, n28, n40, and n78 bands. Needless to say, Jio has secured all these bands across India for a seamless 5G experience.

The JioPhone 5G may be priced under ₹10,000 (approx. $121). If the leaked price is accurate, this would make the JioPhone 5G the cheapest 5G smartphone in India. The Jio smartphone should be available for purchase in the last quarter of 2023.
