June Pixel Drop Brings VIP Contacts, AI Stickers, and More to Google Pixel Devices
Google has begun rolling out the June Pixel Drop, following the release of the stable Android 16 update for Pixel devices. This latest Pixel Drop brings a range of new features and enhancements tailored specifically for Pixel users. Here's a closer look at what's new in the June Pixel Drop.
Pixel VIPs
Pixel users can now designate friends and family as VIPs using a new widget in the Contacts app. This feature allows you to stay connected with important people by adding details like birthdays and preferences. VIPs can bypass Do Not Disturb settings, ensuring you never miss important communications.

Enhanced Photography and Accessibility
The Pixel Camera now includes an educational hub. Users can tap a question mark icon to access visual guides and instructions for each mode. This helps users improve their photography skills by understanding camera functionalities better.
Accessibility features have also been enhanced. The Magnifier app now offers live search capabilities, allowing users to learn about their surroundings in real-time without taking pictures first. Additionally, LE audio features are available for hearing aids on Pixel 9 and newer phones running Android 16.
AI-Powered Innovations
Google Photos will soon offer AI-powered editing tools. These tools provide suggestions to enhance photos with just one tap and offer easy access to recommended editing tools based on user selections.
Gboard now allows users to create custom stickers using generative AI through Pixel Studio. Users can type prompts, choose emotions, and send stickers without switching apps. Stickers can also be made from photos, with backgrounds automatically removed.
Expanded Features and Global Reach
Satellite SOS is now accessible in Australia, enabling emergency service connections without cellular or Wi-Fi networks. The Recorder app has expanded its AI-generated summaries to include French and German languages.
The Expressive Captions feature captures speech nuances and emotions, including elongated words like "yessss!" It is now available in countries such as Canada, the UK, and Australia beyond the US.
The Recorder App's Clear Voice feature is now available on Pixel 8 phones. This feature removes background noise from recordings for clearer audio quality.
This latest update from Google aims to enhance user experience across various aspects of device usage, from communication to photography and accessibility.
