The invitation reveals that the event will start from 7:30 PM local time on August 21.
Yesterday we reported that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A could launch on August 21, which is just a few days away. The device's appearance on TENAA also pointed towards an imminent launch.
However, up until now, we didn't have any official confirmation on this matter. Well, guess what? Lin Bin, the co-founder and president of Xiaomi has just proved the rumors right. He has shared the official launch invitation for the launch event of Redmi Note 5A, on Weibo. His post was first noticed by mydrivers.com. The invitation reveals that the event will start from 7:30 PM local time on August 21.
Apparently, the Redmi Note 5A will be unveiled through a live webcast event. Talking about the image, it shows the device featuring a fingerprint scanner and in many colors. So it will be offered in colors such as Silver, Gold and Pink.
Xiaomi founder and chairman Lei Jun had already revealed that the Xiaomi phone will come in vibrant colors. He even suggested that the handset wouldn't sport a metal body. So we assume that the Redmi Note 5A will feature a polycarbonate body with a metallic finish.
Talking about the specifications, the TENAA listing has revealed that the smartphone will be available in two variants. The higher one or the Redmi Note 5 will arrive with a 5.5-inch HD 720p display and make use of an Octa-core chipset clocked at 1.4GHz. While the listing does not mention that the name of the processor it is likely to be the Snapdragon 630 SoC.
The Redmi Note 5A seems to be a toned down variant of the Redmi Note 5. This one is listed on TENAA sporting a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and it is believed to be the Snapdragon 425 SoC. The screen size and resolution seem to be identical to those of the Redmi Note 5.
Also, there appears to be a 3000mAh battery operating under the hood of this entry-level smartphone.
Talking about the differences between the two variants, the camera and storage aspects are the notable ones. While the Redmi Note 5 seems to feature 3GB RAM and 32GB storage that can be expanded up to 128GB, the Redmi Note 5A is said to feature 2GB RAM and 16GB storage that can be further expanded up to 32GB.
On the optics front, the Redmi Note 5 is listed featuring a 16MP main camera sensor and a 13MP selfie camera. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5A is listed to arrive with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera.
Both the smartphones from Xiaomi is said to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with MIUI 9 on top.
