Lava Agni 3 Set for October 4 Launch, New Details Revealed

Indian smartphone maker Lava is gearing up to launch the Agni 3 on October 4th, a successor to last year's Agni 2. The Agni 3 promises a unique feature set for the mid-range segment, headlined by a dual-display design and a powerful processor.

Dual Displays for Added Functionality

The most striking aspect of the Agni 3 is undoubtedly its dual-display setup. The main display boasts a curved AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. But the real head-turner is the secondary 1.74-inch AMOLED display positioned on the rear panel next to the camera module.

This secondary display offers a variety of functionalities, according to Lava's Product Head, Sumit Singh, in an interaction with Gadgets360. It can be used as a viewfinder for selfies captured with the main rear camera, allowing for easier framing and composition. Additionally, users can leverage it for answering calls, controlling music playback, and viewing notifications.

Performance and Other Specs

Under the hood, the Agni 3 packs the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor, a capable chip for the mid-range segment. It's also expected to come with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

The rear camera system centers around a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) for sharper low-light photos. While details are still scarce, Mr. Singh mentioned the presence of a telephoto lens as well, though specifics remain unconfirmed. Powering the device is a 4700mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.

Pricing and Availability

Lava has confirmed the Agni 3 will be priced competitively within the mid-range segment, staying under Rs 30,000. The launch event will be livestreamed on the company's YouTube channel on October 4th at 12 PM IST, and the phone will be available for purchase through Amazon.
