Lava Play Ultra 5G Launched in India: Gaming Phone with Dimensity 7300 at ₹14,999
Lava has officially joined the gaming smartphone race in India. The company has introduced the Play Ultra 5G, its first gaming-focused phone, starting at ₹14,999.
With MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 under the hood and a 120Hz AMOLED display, Lava is pitching this as a mid-range device that can handle long play sessions without breaking the bank.

A Focus on Gaming Performance
At the center of the Play Ultra is the 2.5GHz MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor built on a 4nm process. Lava claims it can score over 700,000 on AnTuTu, which puts it in solid mid-range territory. RAM options include 6GB or 8GB, both paired with virtual RAM expansion, and storage is UFS 3.1 with up to 1TB expansion.
Display and Build
The Play Ultra features a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1000 nits. For gamers, it supports 10-finger multi-touch and carries an oleophobic coating to keep smudges at bay. Design-wise, the phone comes in Arctic Frost and Arctic Slate finishes, with an IP64 rating that protects against dust and splashes.
Dual stereo speakers round out the setup for a more immersive gaming experience.
Cameras That Do More Than Basics
While the pitch is gaming, the Play Ultra still packs a camera setup aimed at versatility. There’s a 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor paired with a 5MP macro lens on the back, while the front carries a 13MP camera.
Shooting modes include Night, Portrait, Pro Video, Dual View Video, and even AR Stickers.
Battery and Charging
The phone carries a 5000mAh battery supported by 33W fast charging. Lava says it can go from 0 to 100% in about 83 minutes. The company also claims up to 45 hours of talk time and over 10 hours of video playback, numbers that should translate into dependable day-to-day use.
Software and Updates
Lava is keeping the software clean with Android 15 right out of the box. There are no ads, no preloaded bloatware, and the company is promising two years of OS updates along with three years of security patches.
Price and Availability
The Lava Play Ultra 5G comes in Arctic Frost and Arctic Slate finishes. The 6GB + 128GB variant is priced at ₹14,999, while the 8GB + 128GB model costs ₹16,499. The phone will be available from August 25 on Amazon.in.
As a launch offer, buyers can get an additional ₹1,000 discount when using ICICI, SBI, or HDFC Bank cards.
Lava is also bundling its Free Service@Home option, which lets customers request doorstep service support in addition to visiting service centers.
