Lava Play Ultra with 120Hz AMOLED Display, Dimensity 7300 Chip Launching August 20 in India
Lava is stepping into new territory with its Play series, a lineup of smartphones designed for gaming enthusiasts. The company confirmed that the first model, the Lava Play Ultra, will launch in India on August 20 at 8 PM.

Aimed at Mobile Gamers
Gaming on phones has grown rapidly in India, and Lava appears to be targeting that audience with the Play series. Instead of pushing flashy gimmicks, the company is focusing on performance, smooth visuals, and long-lasting battery life — key factors that matter most when you’re playing on the go.
Lava Play Ultra: Key Details
The Play Ultra is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor and comes with HyperEngine gaming optimization, which is meant to keep gameplay stable even under heavy loads. It has a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display running at 120Hz, bright enough at 1,000 nits to stay visible outdoors.
On the back, there’s a 64MP Sony sensor, while the front features a 13MP camera. A 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging keeps things running, and the phone also carries an IP64 rating for splash and dust resistance.
What It Means for Lava
The Play Ultra is the first step in Lava’s attempt to build a lineup around mobile gaming. By keeping the price within the sub-₹20,000 range, the brand is looking to attract younger buyers who want good performance without overspending.
How well it competes with bigger names in the same segment will likely depend on long-term software support and real-world gaming results.
