Lava Shark 5G With 90Hz Display, Android 15, and 5,000mAh Battery Launched at ₹7,999 in India

Lava has introduced a new budget smartphone called the Shark 5G, priced at ₹7,999. The phone is now available for purchase across Lava retail outlets and the company’s online store.

It is positioned as one of the more affordable 5G-enabled devices currently on sale in India.

Lava Shark 5G: Specifications

The Lava Shark 5G is powered by the Unisoc T765 chipset, a 6nm octa-core processor that supports 5G connectivity. It includes 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, with an option to add another 4GB as virtual RAM, and 64GB of internal storage.

The phone features a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution is on the lower side for this screen size, but the higher refresh rate can offer smoother animations and scrolling.

For photography, the Shark 5G has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. These are basic camera systems, likely sufficient for casual use such as social media posts or video calls.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the device. While the phone supports 18W fast charging, the in-box charger is rated at 10W. Charging speeds will therefore be slower unless users opt for a compatible higher-wattage charger.

Software and Features

The phone ships with Android 15, and Lava states that it offers a clean user interface without pre-installed third-party apps. Additional features include face unlock, a fingerprint sensor, and IP54 water and dust resistance.

These additions are typically not standard at this price point, though their practical value will depend on real-world performance.

Availability and Service

The Lava Shark 5G is available in two colors: Stellar Gold and Stellar Blue. It is being sold both online and through physical retail channels.

Lava is also offering a Free Service@Home program for Shark 5G buyers, in addition to a standard 1-year warranty. The at-home service is accessible through the company’s website and is available across India.
