Lenovo K3 Note starts receiving Android Marshmallow update in India
Lenovo K3 Note has started receiving the Android Marshmallow update in India. Incidentally the update is rolling out earlier than expected as the Android upgrade plans of Lenovo had pointed out an April release for the K4 Note. The tremendous success of smartphone may have triggered Lenovo to push the update earlier in the country.
The Android Marshmallow update for the Lenovo K3 Note comes with the March security update patch. Previous to the rollout of this update the budget phablet was running on Android Lollipop 5.0. The update is being rolled over via OTA with users required to download an update package of 1.65GB. Lenovo is also providing users an option to manually flash the update onto their K3 Note smartphone by downloading the package directly from Lenovo website.

Doze Feature to improve battery life
The software brings in a number of features exclusive to Marshmallow including granular App Permissions, Web Experience, App Links etc. Apart from that expect an improved battery life from your device thanks to the Doze feature of Android 6.0. For those unaware the Doze features cuts off background activities when your phone is in standby mode thereby saving the crucial battery life of your phone.
Now with 'TheaterMax' support
The new update also brings support for an immersive VR experience on the smartphone which Lenovo is touting as 'TheaterMax'. This new feature was introduced with the launch of their Lenovo K4 Note smartphone and subsequently made its way into Lenovo Vibe X3 and the recently launched Lenovo K5 Plus smartphones. Those who would like to experience the TheaterMax technology are required to buy the ANT VR headset from Amazon for a price of Rs 1,299.
Lenovo is yet to confirm the Android Marshmallow roll out timeframe for a number of its devices including the upgraded version of the K3 Note namely Lenovo K4 Note (A7010). Other smartphones yet to receive an Android Marshmallow update timeframe include Lenovo A7000, A7000 Plus, Vibe Shot, Vibe X3, Vibe S1 and Vibe P1 smartphones.
