In a highly price-sensitive market like India, it doesn't really come as a surprise that budget smartphones are more preferred. The Lenovo K8 Plus was launched in India in September 2016 at Rs. 10,999. To talk about the specifications, the smartphone sports a 5.2-inch FHD 1080p IPS display with the Gorilla Glass protection on top. At its heart, there operates a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor clocked at 2.4GHz.

The Lenovo K8 Plus offers 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB of expandable (up to 128GB) default storage capacity. Running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, this smartphone comes with stock Android that is free from customizations. A 4,000mAh battery with turbo charging support powers the smartphone from within.

On the optics front, there is a dual rear camera setup on the smartphone comprised of a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. The front camera is an 8MP sensor that has an aperture of f/2.0, Professional Mode, Beautify Mode, and an 84-degree wide angle lens.

The other goodies offered by the Lenovo K8 Plus include Dolby Atmos speakers, a dedicated music key, 4G VoLTE, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Moto C Plus, on the other hand, was launched back in June 2016 at Rs. 6,999. The Moto C Plus comes with a 5-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Under its hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC clubbed with 2GB RAM and 16GB of default storage space that can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The device offers connectivity features such as dual SIM support, FM radio, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, a micro USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Moto C Plus features an 8MP primary camera sensor at its rear accompanied by autofocus, LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. Up front, there is a 2MP selfie camera. The smartphone packs a 4,000mAh battery to keep the lights on.

When it comes to the mid-range segment, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Mi A1 Android Go were the most sold handsets, said Flipkart, which analyzed the data from the carts of over 150 billion shoppers across all its platforms.

"Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL and iPhone X were the most sought-after flagship smartphones of 2017. Honor 8 Pro and Samsung S7 came trailing close," added the e-commerce platform.

In the premium mid-segment market; Huawei's Honor 8 Pro emerged as the favorite among customers.
