Well, the unannounced smartphone has been listed on the company's official website page and the listing further reveals LG G7's support for Fast Charge Technology. Surprisingly, "Future LG G7" appears to support Fast Charge 4.0 which is the standard quick charge technology present in the 2017's Snapdragon 835.

But again previous reports had stated that LG G7 will come with Snapdragon 845 and with this processor Qualcomm has listed that devices will support Quick Charge 4+. Now the listing has only made us more curious as to what LG is planning with its next device. Was the listing intentional or was it to throw us off for a later surprise, well we are not sure right now.

With all that has happened or is happening there is one major question in our minds though. Will LG once again be going the same route as last year where it launched a new smartphone with a one-year-old chipset?

Is LG planning to go the same route with LG G7?

Notably, Samsung had basically taken over the supply of Snapdragon 835 and its smartphones were the first to debut with the chipset. Meanwhile, LG and other manufacturers had to choose between Snapdragon 821 (2016 chipset) or wait longer to launch their smartphones with Snapdragon 835. While LG was set to compete with Samsung, the company seemingly launched its smartphone with an 821 chipset.

And this move might have cost the company as many avoided buying the handset due to its old chipset. At present, is LG planning to go the same route with LG G7? It's best it does not. The listing though has made us worry as the flagship doesn't have Quick Charge 4+ (Snapdragon 845 standard) support but we really hope that the South-Korean manufacturer will not repeat the same move. And the device might yet again fail to impress and lose against the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 series.

Meanwhile, reports have also stated that the Quick Charge technology used in a phone doesn't really depend on the chosen chipset. For instance, the Nubia Z17 features the latest Quick Charge 4+ but is powered by a Snapdragon 835 under the hood. This gives us some hope.

The LG G7 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2018 and as our final verdict, we expect 2018 flagships to be equipped with 2018 high-end chipsets. In any case, LG G7 is expected to be launched in Q1 2018.
