While we can't exactly tell what LG is planning, but it seems that the South Korean company has some interesting products in its mind. Having said that new patents have just been discovered for two LG foldable phones. This comes at a time when we are hearing a lot about foldable smartphones in the tech world and as far as we know the mobile industry is basically working on some form of technology to make such devices a reality.

We have already seen ZTE come out with Axon M foldable phone and Samsung is also reportedly working on such smartphone which has been allegedly dubbed as Samsung Galaxy X. And now LG seems to be joining the bandwagon.

In any case, LG's patent images do look interesting. To further break it down, the company's first concept appears to be a device with two individual bodies but they both have a single screen. When the device is laid out flat it has a full, tablet-like display. When the phone is folded it takes the form a normal smartphone but with thick sides. There seems to be a second on-screen display at the front that shows information like the time when it's closed. There seems to be a single camera at the back.

Looking at the second concept image it looks similar to the first one but has a slightly noticeable difference. It seems that the back panel is moved to the side further revealing a small transparent section of the main display that's used to reveal notifications, time, date, and more.

In any case, LG's patents that we have seen today are quite interesting. However these are just patents filings and while the may look like the way of the future, but it might take a long time for the company to come out with such devices. I mean how long it has been since we have heard about Samsung's foldable phone, years!

So it's almost the same with LG right now, it is unclear if/when these will ever come to market. As per Android Central, the patents were already filed back in July of 2017. It is getting published now. Meanwhile, smartphones companies are really going all out and are bringing in innovations that are quite unique. As for LG, the company seems ready to move forward and deliver products that will entice consumers in future.
