LG might launch V30+ α with improved AI features at MWC 2018
According to reports, LG has collaborated directly with Google to develop the new features.
Now that CES 2018 is over, we are looking forward to MWC 2018 which is the world's largest gathering for the mobile industry. As such, many mobile manufacturers are gearing up to showcase their latest innovations at the event. Brands like Samsung, Sony, Nokia and Motorola amongst others are expected to reveal new smartphones. However, while we were expecting LG to unveil the much anticipated LG G7 smartphone at the event we might not see it happen.
The team responsible for the development of the upcoming flagship device has been reportedly instructed to cease the process and review the project from the ground up. The news was kind of disappointing as we were hoping to see the successor to last year's flagship the LG G6 at MWC 2018. The handset is rumored to launch sometime in April or later.
Against such backdrop, while we thought LG was a no-show, new reports coming out of South Korea now state that the company might be preparing to unveil an upgraded version of LG V30 at MWC 2018. It might not be as exciting as seeing a new launch but there could be a good proposition from the company with the said smartphone.
Besides, sources of publication house The Korea Herald have suggested that the enhanced handset will likely come with "improved AI features" and will possibly be called "V30+ α". There isn't much information about what the AI features will be, but the agency does mention that LG has collaborated directly with Google to develop the technology.
We are speculating the case and you can watch this space for further updates. The news is yet to be confirmed by the company itself.
Meanwhile, this seems like a feasible plan as mentioned above LG did recently change its strategy regarding the LG G7 launch and the company's CEO had also mentioned that they had plans to keep high-end smartphones relevant for longer by releasing more variants of said models. So the only possible solution might have been to introduce an "enhanced LGV30" smartphone. Well MWC is a big platform and companies don't want to miss out on the given opportunity.
In any case, if it turns out to be true then LG V30 could be the first phone to receive additional variants with notable improvements in the company's history.
