LG V10 premium smartphone unveiled, flaunts dual-display and dual selfie cameras

As expected, the south-Korean giant LG has finally unveiled its much talked about high-end smartphone, the V10 with a secondary ticker display and a dual-front-facing camera. Earlier, apart from rumors and leaks, LG Electronics Mobile Communications' President and CEO Jun Ho-Cho had teased the V10 smartphone as the company's ‘Hero' smartphone. The V10 is the LG's first in its new ‘V' series of premium Android smartphones.

Jun Ho-Cho mentioned in a statement that "The LG V10 was designed from the ground up primarily as a multimedia smartphone for the sharing ecosystem."

Apart from that the dual-camera set up, the V10 phone flaunts a second, independent screen above the default display, which seems to be LG's answer to Samsung's edge-display devices.

Moreover, now that Apple's new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are available in various markets, and the Google Nexus 5X and 6P smartphones are out, LG's V10 will help the company in taking on these rival smartphones.

Speaking of specifications and features, the LG V10 gets a 5. 7-inch primary display and a secondary ticker-screen placed above it. The secondary screen is essentially here to display notification alerts for apps like weather, times, date and others, even when the main display is turned off. This second ticker screen can also be used to put shortcuts to your favorite app to make the main display look neat. These shortcuts to apps can be used to launch the app directly on the main display. In case, you don't want to use the secondary screen, you can turn it off to get notifications on the primary display.

Another key feature of the phone is its dual front-facing snapper, with which LG pitches the selfie enthusiasts. The V10 adorns dual front-facing 5-megapixel cameras with 120-degree wide angle lens. This camera set-up lets users take wide-angle shots without needing to pan the phone from side to side, as the phone can stitch together images captured from these two separate cameras and make them look like a single shot. At the rear panel, there is a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash. The phone also features photo and video editing tools and sharing capabilities.

As for its body and design, the V10 smartphone dons a stainless steel body that should give it a premium look, and help it in competing against its metal counterparts from rivals.

As for the processor, the phone is powered by Snapdragon 810 octa-core chipset with 4GB of RAM and a massive 64GB of in-built storage. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box, and runs on a 3,000mAh battery.

Price and availability

The company has not announced the price of the V10. Considering that the phone is loaded with premium features, we expect it to be placed around the company's G4. As for its availability, the phone will debut in LG's home country South Korea first, in October, and will then be launched in the US, and China, India and other key Asian markets.
