LG V30 upgraded version confirmed to get launched at MWC 2018
The launch of LG G7 will be a "bit late".
Last year, LG was the first manufacturer to unveil its flagship smartphone G6 at MWC 2017. The successor of G6 though, won't get launched at MWC 2018, which will take place later this month. Does this mean LG won't announce anything at the upcoming MWC? Well, it doesn't seem so. The company has confirmed that it will be launching an upgraded version of the LG V30.
CY Kim, MD of LG Electronics South Africa, confirmed the news during a press meet held in Cape Town. We expect the company to send out invites for the launch event anytime soon. Unfortunately, Kim neither revealed the name nor the specifications and features of the smartphone. An earlier report by Korea Herald claimed the smartphone would probably be called "LG V30+ α".
The upgraded version of V30 is likely to come with improved AI features and LG has reportedly collaborated directly with Google to develop the technology. Apart from that, there is no information available regarding the device.
If you are wondering about the LG G7 (or whatever the successor to G6 will be called), Kim said the smartphone will make its debut a "little bit late". However, he didn't reveal any specific timeline for the launch. We are not really surprised by his announcement since recent reports coming out of South Korea suggested the same.
Apparently, LG's VP and CEO Jo Seong-jin has directed the company's mobile division to start work on its upcoming flagship device from scratch. Further, Android Central reports, the phone is not likely to get launched until April or later.
LG launched the V30+ in India in December last year. The smartphone comes with a 6-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display with the aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which is teamed up with 4GB RAM and either 64GB of 128GB internal storage options.
On the imagery front, the LG V30+ boasts of a dual rear camera setup with 16MP and 13MP sensors. There is also a 5MP selfie snapper with f/2.2 aperture and a wide-angle lens. As for the software, the smartphone runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with LG UX 6.0+ on top and it will get upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo as well.
