Just ahead of MWC 2018, LG has launched an upgraded version of its last year's LG V30. Dubbed as LG V30S ThinQ, the smartphone comes with advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) features. What's more, it flaunts LG's ThinQ AI-powered brand that was showcased at CES 2018 last month.

Apart from the V30S ThinQ, the LG V30S+ ThinQ has also been launched, which has twice the inbuilt storage. There is no information on the price and availability of the aforementioned smartphones. Hopefully, LG will announce the details in the coming days. As of now, let's find out the specs and features of the newly launched LG V30S ThinQ.

The LG V30S ThinQ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. It offers 128GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB using the microSD card slot. The VS30+ ThinQ, on the other hand, comes with 256GB of internal storage space which is also expandable up to 2TB.

The smartphone is fitted with a 6.0-inch 18:9 QuadHD+ OLED FullVision Display with the screen resolution of 2,880×1,440 pixels. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with UX 6.0+ interface on top.

On the optics front, the V30S ThinQ is equipped with a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.6 aperture, 71-degree lens, and a 13MP secondary sensor with a wide-angle, 120-degree lens along with f/1.9 aperture. There is also a 5MP selfie snapper featuring a wide-angle, 90-degree lens that has an f/2.2 aperture.

The smartphone is backed by a 3,300mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging. There are connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE), NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0 (3.1 compatible). Other aspects onboard include IP68 and MIL-STD 810G rating, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Google Daydream support, voice recognition, face recognition and fingerprint sensor.

The latest LG phone will be offered in two new color options; Moroccan Blue and Platinum Gray. As expected, the LG V30S ThinQ comes equipped with Vision AI and Voice AI technologies. All thanks to Vision AI, the smartphone's camera has now three new features, called AI CAM, QLens, and Bright Mode.

"AI CAM analyzes subjects in the frame and recommends the optimal shooting mode among eight categories: portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. Each mode enhances the characteristics of the subject taking into account factors such as the viewing angle, color, reflections, lighting, and saturation level", reads LG's official blog post.

QLens can automatically scan QR codes, initiate an image search or provide shopping options including where to purchase the item for the lowest price and other similar products that the customer might find of interest.

And the Bright Mode feature uses algorithms to brighten images by a factor of two for better looking photos without the noise.

Another new feature is Voice AI that allows users to run apps and change settings through voice commands alone. Working alongside Google Assistant, the LG-exclusive Voice AI commands eliminates the need to search through menu options and allows for direct selection of specific functions.
