MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ SoC Announced: Will Debut on the Vivo X100s Series on May 13

MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9300+ chipset at the MediaTek Dimensity Developer Conference (MDDC) 2024. The new plus version of the chip is an upgrade from the Dimensity 9300, the primary competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

This new version maintains its use of TSMC's third generation 4nm process technology but brings improvements in speed and AI capabilities.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus: Big Performance Gains

The upgraded chip features an Arm Cortex-X4 core that can reach speeds of up to 3.4 GHz, marking a slight increase from the previous 3.25GHz. It also continues to support three performance cores at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0GHz.

The Dimensity 9300+ significantly advances in AI processing, with MediaTek's NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology showing up to a 10% performance enhancement. This is part of MediaTek's latest generative AI engine, which facilitates collaborations with AI platforms like 01.AI Yi-Nano and Alibaba Cloud Owen LLM, among others.

The chipset's APU 790 AI engine is designed to support Large Language Models (LLMs) with parameters ranging from 1B to 33B, efficiently running models with 7 billion parameters at more than double the speed of mass market alternatives.

Graphics, Imaging Upgrades

MediaTek has also upgraded the GPU to the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G720, featuring a second-generation hardware ray tracing engine. This allows for smooth 60 FPS ray tracing experiences and console-grade global illumination effects.

The chipset incorporates MediaTek's HyperEngine technologies, enhancing power efficiency and network performance in gaming and connectivity. The Dimensity 9300+ continues to offer the Imagiq 990 ISP for advanced AI videography and the MiraVision 990 for enriched content viewing.

Its 5G R16 modem supports up to 7Gbps downlink, matching the capabilities of its predecessor. The chipset is set to redefine smartphone performance, supporting features like WQHD displays at 180Hz and cameras up to 320MP.

First Smartphones to Incorporate the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+

The first devices to feature the Dimensity 9300+ chipset are expected to hit the market soon. Vivo has announced that its X100s and X100s Pro models will be the first, launching on May 13th in China.

Additionally, the iQOO Neo 9S Pro, rumored to share specifications with the Neo 9 Pro, will also incorporate the new chipset, alongside the iQOO Pad2 Pro. These launches indicate the immediate availability of MediaTek's latest technology in consumer devices, offering enhanced performance and AI capabilities.
