MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro With 2nm Process, Agentic AI Announced in India Alongside Dimensity 9600M

MediaTek has announced its latest flagship smartphone chipset, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, at the company's Tech Day event in Delhi. Built on an advanced 2nm process, the new chipset focuses on flagship performance, improved power efficiency and next-generation on-device AI capabilities. The OPPO Find X10 Pro Max will be the first smartphone in India to feature the Dimensity 9600 Pro.

The chipset is designed around MediaTek's new Native AI architecture, which aims to enable more advanced agentic AI experiences directly on smartphones. The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro and the newly introduced Dimensity 9600M are expected to launch this quarter.

MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro Specifications and Features

The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU architecture, comprising two C2-Ultra cores clocked at up to 4.55GHz and six C2-Pro cores. MediaTek claims up to 17% higher single-core performance and 15% higher multi-core performance compared to the previous generation, while multi-core power consumption is reduced by 61%.

AI is a major focus of the new chipset. Its dual-NPU architecture and Dimensity Agentic AI Engine are designed to enable smartphones to understand context, anticipate user requirements and perform tasks across apps. The second-generation Super-Efficient NPU reportedly reduces always-on AI power consumption by 40%, while the NPU 1090 delivers up to 51% higher LLM prefill performance and 55% higher token generation per watt. It can also support AI models with up to 30 billion parameters.

For gaming, the chipset integrates the G2-Ultra NX GPU, offering up to 27% higher peak performance, 24% lower power consumption and 18% faster ray tracing. MediaTek says the chipset can support gaming at up to 185fps, with its HyperEngine technology optimising performance and power consumption.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro also gets MediaTek's Imagiq 1290 ISP and AI Imaging Fusion Architecture. It supports features such as NPU-powered 60fps motion capture, 4K at 240fps slow-motion video, 4K60 AI True Color Tone, 4K120 cinematic log recording and up to 17EV imaging.

MediaTek Dimensity 9600M Also Announced

Alongside the Dimensity 9600 Pro, MediaTek introduced the Dimensity 9600M for the flagship smartphone segment. It combines advanced CPU and GPU technology with the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine and Dimensity Scheduling Engine for AI, gaming and everyday performance.

The company expects smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M to launch this quarter, with the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max set to be the first device to bring the Dimensity 9600 Pro to consumers in India.
