After weeks of leaks, rumors, and teasers, Meizu M6S has finally been made official. As it turns out, most of the speculations regarding the phone's features and specs were spot on. Notably, the M6S doesn't include Meizu's signature mBack button, and the smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as it was revealed in the earlier leaks. What's more, it is the first Meizu phone to feature an 18:9 display.

The Meizu M6s is available in Champagne Gold, Matte Black, Moonlight Silver and Cobalt Blue color options. The 32GB variant of the smartphone is priced at 999 Yuan (approx. Rs. 9,912), whereas the 64GB variant will cost 1,199 Yuan (approx. Rs. 11,897). The pre-orders for the phone has already started and it will go on sale on January 19 in China. There is no information on its global release.

Let's see what the Meizu M6S has to offer in terms of features and specs.

When it comes to the looks, the Meizu M6S sports a full metal body. The handset features the same U shaped nano injection antenna design that can be found on flagship level smartphones. While the bezels on the phone are narrow, M6S cannot be called a bezel-less smartphone. The phone doesn't have any physical buttons except for the power button and the volume rockers. On the rear panel, there is a single camera, LED flash and the Meizu brand.

The M6s sports a 5.7-inch display that produces a HD+ resolution of 1440×720 pixels. The display has rounded corners and is covered by a 2.5D curved glass for added protection.

On the M6S, Meizu has ditched the physical, multifunctional mBack button in favor of something called 'Halo Button'. Basically a virtual button, it is kind of similar to the mBack key that the company used to utilize previously.

When tapped, this on-screen button will function as a back key. It will act as a home key when pressed. By long pressing the Halo Button, the display will lock, while users can swipe it left and right to switch between recently opened applications. If users swipe up, the multitasking/overview mode will get activated.

The handset measures 152×72.54×8mm, and it weighs 160 grams.

The Meizu M6S is fueled by a 64-bit hexa-core Samsung Exynos 7872 64-bit processor. The smartphone offers 3GB and either 32GB of 64GB of internal storage. The storage space is further expandable with the use of a microSD card.

Powering the entire package is a 3,000mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support. Meizu claims that the phone can get charged from 0-30 percent in just 15 minutes.

As for the software part, the Meizu M6S runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat along with the company's custom Flyme OS 6.2.

As for optics, the smartphone features a 16MP rear-facing primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, and CMOS sensor. There is also a selfie camera of 8MP that has an aperture of f/2.0.

What's interesting is that the Meizu M6S's side-mounted fingerprint scanner is said to unlock the device in 0.2 seconds. Named as ‘Super mBack' fingerprint sensor, it is customizable and users can perform various tasks just with gestures.
