Meizu started sending out invitations to an event on 29 July, with a teaser that says "the long era of 1110." It is expected that Meizu will unveil the Meizu M2 smartphone in the upcoming event.
Earlier, it was highly speculated that Nokia was looking for a world class partner to re-enter the smartphone market. Now, the Meizu's invitations contains a Nokia 1110 feature phone. This could be Meizu's unique way of saying that its M2 smartphone will be released in partnership with Nokia.
The Nokia 1110 in the Meizu invite is not fully functional. Although the phone can be turned on, but it cannot be used to make or receive calls or messages. However, the Nokia 1110 display shows is the date of Meizu M2 launch event, which is 29 July.
It seems that Meizu is trying to tell its fans that the upcoming M2 smartphone will be a classic device like the Nokia 1110.
Recently, the M2 was spotted at TENAA, the Chinese phone regulatory, listing the specification of the smartphone. According to the TENAA listing, the M2 will sport 5 inch display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels of resolution. It will be powered by a MediaTek 6735 chipset with octa-core processor and a Mail-T720 GPU paired with 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone will holds a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage that can further expand using microSD card. The smartphone packs a 2700mAh battery and supports dual-SIM and 4G LTE connectivity.
It is rumored that the unannounced Meizu M2 will be price at around CYN 599.
