Micromax and BSNL to launch Bharat One on October 17 to compete with JioPhone
Micromax to launch the Bharat One with bundled BSNL data and calls tomorrow.
With the launch of the JioPhone, the 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone, Reliance Jio has shaken the Indian mobile phone market bringing in many drastic changes.
Following the JioPhone, we came across the launch of the Airtel Karbonn A40 at an effective price point of Rs. 1,399. Even other telecom operators are gearing up to launch their own budget offerings to stay updated in the competition. We have come across rumors that Micromax and BSNL have teamed up to launch the Bharat One, which is a 4G VoLTE feature phone sometime in October but the date wasn't confirmed. Now, there appears to be more clarity regarding the same.
Well, we at GizBot have received an invite for an event to happen in New Delhi on October 17 at 3:30 PM. The invite has the word 'BHARAT' tipping that the Bharat One might be launched at the event. This event will be hosted by both Micromax and BSNL with the presence of Mr. Anupam Srivastava, the CMD at BSNL and Mr. Rahul Sharma, the Co-Founder of Micromax Informatics.
4G feature phones that will soon shape up the Indian mobile market
The Micromax Bharat One is said to be an entry-level 4G VoLTE feature phone. It is said to be launched in partnership with BSNL and that the latter will bundle features such as free voice calls. Given that BSNL offers only 3G service, it remains unknown how the 4G VoLTE feature will be utilized on this device but we expect to know further details at the event tomorrow.
Going by the previous reports, the Micromax Bharat One is said to feature a bigger display, a better camera and a long-lasting battery life in comparison to the existing feature phones. The feature phones that exist in the market have screen sizes around 2-inches and around 2,000 mAh battery capacity. The imaging aspects include a 2MP rear camera and VGA front-facing snappers on the best offerings.
The Reliance JioPhone is the feature phone that everyone is looking to own right now. The company has already on the verge of shipping six million units of the smart feature phone. Even the second phase booking of the JioPhone is all set to start after Diwali. The Bharat One is aimed at competing with the likes of the JioPhone but how well BSNL can provide 4G connectivity is what we wait to see.
