Microsoft Copilot will Reportedly let you Control Your Android Smartphone from a Linked Windows 11 PC
Microsoft's AI chatbot Copilot has been updated to manage tasks on linked Android smartphones. This new feature, currently in beta, allows users to send text messages or summarize inbox messages through the Copilot web portal. However, specific requirements must be met for it to function correctly.

Copilot AI Linking with Android Phones
The update was introduced as a server-side enhancement via the Phone Link plugin. According to Windows Latest, only those enrolled in the Copilot beta program can access this feature. Users need to be on Windows 11 and connect their Android 14-based smartphone using the Phone Link app or the Link Devices feature.
Once connected, the Copilot chat interface can control various smartphone functions. Users can set alarms, get text message summaries, and send or receive messages. Additionally, the AI chatbot can access contacts stored on the smartphone.
Enhanced User Experience with Simple Prompts
This integration allows users to perform multiple tasks using simple text prompts without switching between apps or interfaces. For example, users can ask Copilot to check and summarize recent messages, draft and send new messages, or share contact details of specific individuals.
The main advantage of this setup is its convenience. Users can manage several tasks directly from their PC without needing to navigate through different applications on their smartphones. This seamless interaction enhances productivity and simplifies communication.
Beta Phase and Future Availability
Currently, this feature is available only to some beta testers. There is no clear timeline for when it will be rolled out to the public. As it remains in the beta phase, further updates and improvements are expected before a wider release.
In summary, Microsoft's Copilot AI chatbot's new update significantly enhances its functionality by integrating with Android smartphones. This development promises greater ease of use and efficiency for users managing tasks across devices.
