Moto G4 Play users around the world now getting Android Nougat update
Lenovo-owned Motorola had first announced the Android 7.1.1 Nougat roll-out for Moto G4 Play back in June.
If you recall, Lenovo-owned Motorola had announced the Android 7.1.1 Nougat roll-out for Moto G4 Play back in June. However, due to some unknown reason, at that time, the update was only available to a small percentage of users in Brazil.
Now, after six months since the first roll-out, Moto G4 Play owners around the world are finally receiving the Android Nougat update. Unfortunately, the update brings in the security patch for November, though the device will continue to get security updates. Other than that, users of the smartphone should get all the features of Android 7.1.1 like new system icons and Duo Video calling application.
The update also brings in the usual bug fixes and improvements to the Motorola Moto G4 Play.
Meanwhile, users are recommended to keep the battery at least 50 percent charged before updating to the new software. Also, the device should be connected to a Wi-Fi network or LTE as data charges may be incurred while using mobile data.
Moto G4 Play users, who haven't received the notification about the update then they can simply go to the phone's Settings >About Phone>Software updates, and the phone will automatically download the update. The update should take around 10-15 minutes to get fully installed on the device.
If you own a Moto G4 Play and have got the update, do share with us about the new features and how is it different from the old one.
Just to recall, the Moto G4 Play sports a 5.0-inch touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. As for the innards, it is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor running at 1.2GHz. Talking about the memory aspect, the smartphone offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.
In terms of optics, the Motorola Moto G4 Play is equipped with an 8MP primary camera at the rear and a 5MP front shooter for selfies and video calls. To keep the lights on, the device packs a 2,800mAh removable battery inside. The dual SIM smartphone offers standard connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India).
