No Android 7.0 Nougat
The leaked images posted by playfuldroid shows a working handset showing its front and rear panel. The first image is of smartphone's 'Settings' menu that shows the handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and not on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
The image further shows the model no. XT1662, which confirms the previous leaks of the handset in the month of September.
New Metal design with Rear-Mounted Fingerprint sensor
The second image shows the handset rear panel, which confirms that Moto M will be the company's first smartphone to host the fingerprint sensor on its back. The image also makes clear that the upcoming handset will look a lot different from the previous and the latest MotoZ and Moto Z Play.
Inspired from HTC One series handsets
The smartphone has a full metal construction, and flaunts a curved back, which somewhat resembles the HTC One series handsets. The rear panel has a camera sensor accompanied with a LED flashlight.
As we reported in the first week of September, Moto M is expected to sport a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 16 MP main camera, a 5 or 8 MP selfie shooter, 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB ROM with an expandable option of 32GB via MicroSD card slot.
MediaTek Helio Chipset and 4GB RAM
The smartphone is expected to be powered by a MediaTek's MT6755 SoC (also known as the Helio P10) running a 2 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU. It can come with a 3,000mAh battery unit.
Motorola has not issued any official announcement for the upcoming smartphone and it is widely expected that the smartphone will first launch in Chinese market and then will roll out to other markets.
Moto M Plus?
The previous Moto M leaks on TENAA certification site hinted about another variant, possibly the Moto M Plus. It could be a premium variant of the handset with a large 6-inch 1080p full-HD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC paired with 4GB RAM.
We are not yet sure about the second variant and expects that the coming weeks will clear the air about the new Moto devices. Stay tuned foe more updates.
