After the several leaks and rumors, the Moto X4 is finally official. The smartphone has been announced at the IFA 2017 tech show as expected.

The Moto X4 is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The other notable feature is the support for Amazon Alexa. The major highlight of the Moto X4 is the dual rear camera setup that is claimed to capture real-time depth effect. It is noted that is dual camera setup can be used for landmark and object recognition and to scan business cards, barcodes, and QR codes.

When it comes to the looks, the Moto X4 flaunts a familiar glass and metal design. The front and rear of the device are protected with Gorilla Glass. The dual camera module is enclosed in a circular visor that is slightly protruding. The mid-range smartphone boasts of a 5.2-inch FHD 1080p display.

The Moto X4 is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 630 SoC. The device has been announced in two variants - 3GB RAM and 32GB storage capacity for the U.S. and European markets and 4GB and 64GB storage space for the other global markets. A 3000mAh battery powers the smartphone from under its hood with support for Turbo Charging that is claimed to charge the phone giving up to 6 hours of usage in just 15 minutes. The smartphone has been launched with Android 7.1.2 with stock UI out of the box. On the connectivity front, the handset includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port.

The Moto X4 sports a dual camera setup with Dual Autofocus Pixel technology and wide-angle lens at its rear as stated above. It comprises of a primary 12MP sensor and a secondary 8MP sensor with the ability to capture the depth of field information called bokeh effect. The Landmark Detection feature helps users get the location details in the camera app and Face Filters feature lets adding animation to the photos and videos. Up front, there is a 16MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash that can capture selfies with the low-light adaptive mode.

The Moto X4 has in-built Amazon Alexa that can be accessed via a voice command even when the device is locked. All the markets supported by Amazon Alexa will get this feature. Apart from the support to the voice assistant, the Moto X4 is preloaded with a slew of new features such as Moto Key, Quick Screenshot, and a new wireless audio streaming feature. The Moto Key lets users access password-protected webpages on laptop and PC with a single tap on the smartphone. Quick Screenshot lets users take a quick screenshot just by tapping the screen with three fingers. The wireless audio streaming option lets you connect the device to up to 4 wireless speakers at the same time.

Price and availability

The Moto X4 has been launched in two color variants - Super Black and Sterling Blue. The handset will be released in Europe sometime this month at €399 (approx. Rs. 30,300) for the base variant. The other global markets will get the device in the coming months.
