Motorola Android 17 Update Rolls Out in India: New UI, AI Features and Security Upgrades

Motorola has officially started rolling out the Android 17 update to eligible smartphones in India. The major software update will be released in phases, beginning with Motorola's flagship Signature series before expanding to other supported devices in the coming months.

The Motorola Android 17 update brings a redesigned user interface, improved personalisation, new AI features, enhanced connectivity tools and additional security options.

Motorola Android 17 Gets a New UI

Android 17 introduces a refreshed user interface designed to make navigation smoother. The Quick Settings panel now features larger touch targets and streamlined menus.

Motorola has also updated display settings with improved HDR brightness management and redesigned system menus for better visibility.

The home screen gets interactive widgets with snap-scrolling, making it easier to browse widgets in smaller spaces. Accessibility settings have also been reorganised, simplifying controls for vision settings, display scaling and screen magnification.

New Connectivity Features

Motorola is adding several connectivity features with Android 17. The updated Quick Share can use QR codes to share files with iOS and other non-Android devices, allowing recipients to download shared content through a web browser.

A new instant hotspot feature also makes it easier to share a phone's internet connection with nearby devices.

The update adds nearby audio streaming, allowing users to broadcast music to compatible devices in the vicinity.

Motorola Adds Hardware Diagnostics

Android 17 also introduces a new hardware diagnostics hub for Motorola smartphones. The local tool allows users to test individual hardware components and view real-time system telemetry.

This could make it easier to identify potential hardware issues without relying immediately on third-party diagnostic tools or service centres.

AI Translation and Scam Protection

AI features are another major part of the update. Circle to Search now supports real-time translation directly on the screen, allowing users to translate content without leaving the current app.

Motorola is also adding automated scam protection for SMS and RCS messages. The feature scans incoming messages and alerts users about potentially malicious texts, phishing links and other suspicious content.

More Security and Privacy Features

The Failed Authentication Lock feature adds another layer of protection by securing the device after failed authentication attempts and restricting sensitive lock screen notifications.

Motorola has also improved notification grouping, with smarter summaries and contextual sharing suggestions for newly captured media.
