Motorola Edge 40 Users Begin Receiving Android 14 Update in India

Motorola Edge 40 users in India are beginning to receive the stable Android 14 software update, marking a significant upgrade for the handset that was originally launched with Android 13.

Despite the absence of an official announcement from Motorola, reports from users, including a specific claim on X (formerly Twitter), confirm the rollout of this latest update.

The update, sized at 1.49GB and tagged with firmware version U1TL34.115-13, introduces Android 14's array of features alongside Motorola's own enhancements within its My UX interface. As this rollout progresses in batches, a wider audience of Motorola Edge 40 owners is expected to access the update shortly.

The Motorola Edge 40 debuted last year with a compelling specs sheet and earned the title of best mid-range smartphone in 2023 in our rankings. The Motorola Edge 40 price in India starts from Rs 26,999 for the 8GB/256GB model. To recall, the company also released the Motorola Edge 50 Pro earlier this month.

Motorola Edge 40 came with a promise of receiving two major Android updates. With the Android 14 update now in motion, users can anticipate not only the current suite of improvements but also a future update to Android 15.

Motorola Edge 40 Specifications

The Motorola Edge 40 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The handset also packs a 4,400 mAh battery with 68W fast charging support. It is also the first phone in the segment to support 15W wireless charging.

For optics, the Motorola Edge 40 gets a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor that supports OIS and a wide f/1.4 aperture. The phone also has a 13 MP ultrawide lens with doubles as a macro shooter. Up front, the Edge 40 opts for a 32 MP selfie camera. The Edge 40 runs on Android 13 with Motorola's MyUX skin on top.

Another segment first for the Motorola Edge 40 is its 6.55-inch FHD+ 3D curved pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel boasts a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, 100% DCI-P3 colours, HDR10+ support, and an in-display fingerprint reader. The Moto Edge 40 also packs stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

The Motorola Edge 40 comes in three shades - Eclipse Black, Nebula Green, and Lunar Blue. The Nebula Green and Eclipse Black models have a vegan leather finish while an acrylic glass finish is found on the Lunar Blue colorway. The Moto Edge 40 also boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
