Motorola Launches Moto G96 5G in India with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and 144Hz Curved OLED Display

Motorola has officially launched the Moto G96 5G in India, expanding its G-series lineup with a mid-range smartphone powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor.

The device brings together a curved 144Hz OLED display, Android 15, and a 50MP Sony camera sensor. It will be available starting July 16 via Flipkart, motorola.in, and offline retail outlets.

Display and Build

The Moto G96 5G features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate. It supports HDR10+ and offers peak brightness of up to 1600 nits. The display is slightly curved on the sides and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, providing a more refined design compared to flat-panel devices in this price range.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the smartphone is equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, built on a 4nm process and clocked up to 2.4GHz. It is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and users can choose between 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Moto G96 ships with Android 15 out of the box, and Motorola has committed to providing three years of OS updates and four years of security patches.

Camera Setup

The rear camera module consists of a 50MP primary sensor (Sony LYT-700C) with an f/1.88 aperture and support for optical image stabilization (OIS). It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera that also doubles as a macro shooter. On the front, the device includes a 32MP selfie camera featuring Quad Pixel technology to enhance low-light performance.

Battery and Charging

Powering the phone is a 5500mAh battery with support for 68W TurboPower fast charging via USB Type-C. Motorola includes stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, and the phone features an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

Durability and Connectivity

The Moto G96 5G is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. It supports dual 5G (SA/NSA), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual 4G VoLTE. The device also includes USB Type-C audio and support for dual nano SIM cards.

Pricing and Availability

The smartphone is available in four PANTONE-certified colours: Greener Pastures, Cattleya Orchid, Ashleigh Blue, and Dresden Blue. The 8GB + 128GB variant is priced at ₹17,999, while the 8GB + 256GB model will be available for ₹19,999. Sales begin on July 16 across Flipkart, Motorola's online store, and authorised offline retailers.
