Motorola Moto E5, E5 Plus, E5 Play go official; Price, specs and features

Only Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus will be available in the Indian market.

Besides the Moto G6 lineup, Motorola yesterday took the wraps of its Moto E5 series of smartphones. The new phones; the Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play; are positioned in the entry-level market. Out of these three handsets, only the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus come with 18:9 aspect ratio, whereas the Moto E5 Play is still fitted with a traditional 16:9 display.

Motorola has set the price of Moto E5 price (MSRP) at EUR 149 (roughly Rs. 12,000). The Moto E5 Plus is priced at EUR 169 (roughly Rs. 13,700). These two smartphones will be be available for purchase in many regions including India. The Moto E5 Play, on the other hand, will be exclusive to the US market. There's no word on the Moto E5 Play's pricing yet.

Motorola Moto E5 features a 5.7-inch display with HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. The chipset is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB).

On the photography front, the smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash as well as a 5MP selfie camera.

The Moto E5 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and it is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. Connectivity options onboard include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, 3.5mm audio jack etc. The smartphone is offered in Flash Gray and Fine Gold colors.

Moto E5 Plus

Moto E5 Plus is the star of Motorola's Moto E5 lineup. It flaunts a larger 6-inch IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution. The smartphone is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB).

In terms of optics, the smartphone is equipped with a 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, laser autofocus and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), and LED flash. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Running on stock Android 8.0 Oreo, the Moto E5 Plus sports a splash-resistant coating. The main highlight of the smartphone is its large 5,000mAh battery with TurboCharge support.

On the connectivity front, the handset offers standard connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, 3.5mm headphone jack, and micro-USB port. The smartphone comes in Black, Mineral Blue, Flash Gray, and Fine Gold color variants.

Motorola Moto E5 Play is fitted with a relatively smaller 5.2-inch display with HD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone be available in two processor variants; one is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC, whereas the other one is powered by a Snapdragon 427 processor.

The Moto E5 Play packs 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage with support for expansion up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The smartphone is equipped with an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash as well as a 5MP selfie camera.

The Moto E5 Play runs Android 8.0 Oreo and it is backed by a 2,800mAh battery. The smartphone has color variants such as Black, Dark Lake, and Flash Gray.
