Motorola Moto X4 to launch on September 2; hints teaser poster

Motorola's Moto X4 recently received its FCC certification, which hints towards an imminent launch. Earlier rumors had claimed that it may get unveiled on August 31 at the Lenovo's IFA 2017 event.

Now, fresh information suggests that the smartphone will be launched on September 2. Motorola has shared a launch event teaser poster for the said date on its official Facebook page for the Philippines. As you can see from the image, the company will hold a launch event on September 2, which will kick off from 6 PM local time. While the teaser doesn't reveal which product will be launched, it does contain the text "hellomoto X".

So the event is probably meant for the unveiling of Moto X4. Dubbed as Jadine FB Live, the event will be live streamed on Facebook.

 

With only four days left till the launch, let's find out what to expect from the Moto X4. The FCC listing has revealed most of its key specs.

The smartphone is said to come with a 5.2-inch FHD AMOLED display with the resolution of 1080×1980 pixels. The display will be covered by a Gorilla Glass 3 for providing better protection.

Under its hood, the phone will be powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor by Qualcomm. The chipset will be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of default storage capacity. The storage space can be further expanded up to 256GB with the use of a microSD card.

On the optics front, the Motorola Moto X4 will feature dual cameras with PDAF at its back. The dual camera setup is comprised of two 12MP sensors. One will be RGB, while the other one is meant for taking Monochrome pictures. The cameras will come with features like HDR, Panorama, Geo-tagging, Face-detection, Macro-mode, Burst-Mode, Slow-motion mode etc.

Likewise, there will be a 16MP selfie camera with wide-angle lens.

The Moto X4 will draw its energy from a non-removable 3000mAH battery with 25w turbo charging support. On light to moderate usage, the battery unit is said to last for a day.
On the connectivity front, the smartphone will offer 4G LTE, 3G WCDMA, 2G GSM, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS- GLONASS.

In addition, the Moto X4 will be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. The Moto X4 will probably be launched in three color variants; Sterling Blue, Gold and Super Black.
