Lenovo-owned Motorola is losing its ground in the Indian market, as the company fell 71 percent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs. 1,972.8 crore, during the last financial year, reports Economic Times. According to the report, Motorola Mobility is facing a tough time due to Chinese smartphone players such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Realme.
The report states that the company has posted Rs. 19.8 crore in 2018-19, as against Rs. 46.5 crore in 2017- 18. Furthermore, the report reveals that Motorola did not divulge any reason behind this loss. But it did mention that the company has tried its level best to increase its business performance.
"Motorola lost in the sales channel strategy," said Counterpoint Technology Market Research associate director Tarun Pathak, was quoted by the newspaper. Adding to that, "Realme gave a strong competition in the online segment, especially in the sub $200 (Rs 14,000) segment where Motorola had its strength. Apart from this, their organization restructuring also had an impact," he said.
It is worth mentioning that a new report by Counterpoint reveals that its market share fell from 1.6 percent in 2018 to 0.9 percent in Q3 of calendar 2019. On the other hand, the company is all set to launch its much-awaited smartphone Motorola Razr.
The upcoming smartphone is expected to feature a 6.2-inch OLED display along with a resolution of 876 x 2142 pixels, while the secondary display is likely to support a resolution of 600 x 800. Under the hood, the Moto Razr 2019 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, paired with 4GB/64GB RAM and 6GB/128GB internal storage.
Besides, the smartphone is expected to be backed by a 2,730mAh battery inside the device. Earlier, Huawei and Samsung have also launched their foldable phones. In fact, Xiaomi is also planning to launch the foldable device soon.
