Flipkart is introducing a new produce exchange policy that will allow users to trade in non-functioning smartphones and appliances. Previously, customers were allowed to trade-in older devices to save money on new purchases, although they had to be functional.

Now, Flipkart's new Exchange Program will allow customers to trade-in non-functional appliances, smartphones, and feature phones. So without any further delays, here's everything you need to know about Flipkart's new exchange program.

A Sustainable Solution

According to Flipkart, via TOI, the new exchange program aims to tackle concerns of customers who find it challenging to dispose of their older, non-functional appliances and smartphones. The program will offer a hassle-free process of discarding inoperative or damaged products.

Ashutosh Singh Chandel, Senior Director and Business Head, Re-Commerce at Flipkart said, "With the new exchange program for non-functional appliances, we want to provide our customers with an innovative, sustainable, and convenient solution to discard unused smartphones and large appliances and upgrade to a product they aspire to have."

Flipkart Exchange Program Benefits

Offering a hassle-free method of disposing non-functional smartphones and appliances will help reduce electronic waste in India. The country is the world's third largest generator of e-waste and Flipkart's new program is a step in the right direction to reduce such waste.

Chandel said, "Apart from benefitting our valued customers, this program will act as a catalyst to transition to a circular economy and reduce the impact on the environment." Additionally, the program will also benefit Flipkart's customers by offering an exchange value that can be used to purchase new products.

Flipkart will refurbish, recycle, or dispose of inoperative smartphones and appliances, responsibly by authorised vendors, depending on their condition. However, the priority will be to check if a product can be refurbished.
