New Jio Phone Spotted on BIS Certification; Expected to Debut Under Bharat Series

Jio appears to be preparing to launch a new feature phone in India. The phone was spotted on the BIS certification website with the model number JBB121B1. The device's name is still undisclosed, but it is predicted to be part of the Bharat series.

According to a report by 91Mobiles Hindi, the new Jio phone may debut as the Jio Bharat B2. Therefore, we can anticipate that the device will launch with enhanced features compared to the existing Bharat B1.

Although, the BIS listing reveals nothing about the upcoming Jio feature phone beyond the model number. We expect to get more info about the phone in the coming days.

Jio Bharat B1 Features

To remind you, the telecom giant released the Jio Bharat B1 in October last year. The device offers 4G connectivity and comes pre-installed with JioPay, enabling users to make UPI payments. The phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA rectangular display and is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery.

The battery reportedly provides up to ‎343 hours of standby time. The Jio Bharat B1 operates on ‎Threadx RTOS and supports 23 languages, including multiple Indian regional languages. The phone comes with pre-installed JioCinema and JioSaavn apps.

It has ‎0.05GB of RAM, and the storage capacity can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The phone includes a rear camera. As per the Amazon listing, the Jio Bharat B1 offers 0.3MP rear camera.

For connectivity, the feature phone includes a ‎3.5mm headphone jack, single nano SIM, ‎Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. It weighs 110 grams and measures ‎125mm x 52mm x 17mm. The phone is sold for Rs. 1,299 and comes in a black colour option.

As for the upcoming Jio feature phone, the specifications have yet to be disclosed. However, it is expected to have a similar battery unit and 4G connectivity like the Bharat B1.

The new phone is also likely to have a budget-friendly price tag, like the Bharat B1. Nonetheless, we recommend taking this information with a grain of salt until official details are released.
