New Nokia phones to launch on February 25; HMD Global sends invite
The company has already sent out invites for the launch event, which will take place in Barcelona, just ahead of the MWC 2018.
With MWC 2018 around the corner, many manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, and Xiaomi have already announced their participation as exhibitors in the event. Now, HMD Global has confirmed that it will host a press event on February 25, just ahead of MWC 2018. The company has already sent out invites for the launch event, which will take place in Barcelona, Spain. The confirmation comes after the company's Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas tweeted that HMD Global has something big in store for Nokia fans.
As some of you may recall, HMD Global turned heads at last year's MWC by launching a couple of smartphones including the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3, and the modernized version of its iconic Nokia 3310 feature phone. Well, apparently the Finnish company is all set to come back with a bang at the MWC 2018. It is speculated to unveil the flagship Nokia 9 and the Android Oreo (Go Edition) based Nokia 1. Other than that, we also expect the global launch of Nokia 6 (2018), which is already official in China.
Last year, the Nokia 6 was first introduced in China in China followed by a global launch a month later. There are chances that HMD Global finally makes the Nokia 7 available for all, which is currently a China-exclusive. However, it doesn't seem much likely. Besides this, the Nokia 3310 4G variant may get unveiled. The device has already visited the TENAA certification site running on Android-based YunOS.
Among all these models, our focus will mostly be on the Nokia 9 and Nokia 1. As stated, the Nokia 9 is speculated to arrive with top-notch specs like dual selfie cameras with autofocus and FHD support, and edge-to-edge screen with minimal bezels. Whereas, the Nokia 1 will probably be one of the first smartphones featuring Android Go.
Talking about Nokia's invitation, it contains sentences "Welcome Home" and "Join us at the Home of Nokia Phones" and asks for a registration for a "house key". In the background image, we can see a couple sitting inside a house with smiles on their faces. While the invitation doesn't disclose anything in particular, we are excited for a new range of Nokia smartphones.
