Nokia 1 to be launched in India in April; to cost around Rs. 5,000
Nokia 1’s India availability is speculated.
HMD Global unveiled five devices at the MWC 2018 show floor yesterday. One of them is the Nokia 1, the Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone. The Nokia 1 joins the other Android Go smartphones such as Alcatel 1X and ZTE Tempo Go those were also unveiled at the tech show.
The Nokia 1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and features a 2MP selfie camera, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and support for 4G VoLTE connectivity. The smartphone comes with a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage space that can be expanded further up to 128GB using a microSD card. The device bestows a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
Nokia 1 gets the power from a 2150mAh battery that operates under its hood. This battery is claimed to render up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time. The device has other features such as dual SIM support, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and more.
Being an entry-level smartphone, the Nokia 1 features a polycarbonate body and interchangeable Xpress-on covers on its back. The device has been announced in two color variants such as Dark Blue and Warm Red. The Xpress-on covers are available in four colors - gray, yellow, pink and azure and will be sold separately for $7.99.
At the time of unveiling, the Nokia 1 is said to be released globally in April and carry a price tag of $85 (approx. Rs. 5,500). Following this, there are media reports tipping that the Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone might be released in India in early April and might cost around Rs. 5,000. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the same and we need to wait for the company to reveal the India release details.
