Nokia 1 and Nokia 3 receive updates in India
HMD Global once again proves that it is one of the few brands committed to bring timely updates to its smartphones.
HMD Global recently launched the new Nokia smartphones in India earlier this month. This has not stopped the company from rolling out updates to the previous generation models. We say so as the Nokia 3 and Nokia 1 smartphones in India have started receiving updates bringing new features and security patches.
According to NokiaPowerUser, the Nokia 3 smartphones in India have started receiving the stable version of Android 8.0 Oreo. The update removes the Night Light feature, which was rolled out to the phone in the beta version of Android Oreo. There is no reason behind the removal of this feature after the rollout of the stable Oreo build.
Otherwise, the device gets many new features included in the stable Oreo build. Some of the new features include picture-in-picture mode, Google Play protect, integrated Instant Apps, faster boot time, April security patch, a new Camera app and more. It also fixes a major security vulnerability and has a redesigned UI and new algorithms too.
Nokia 1 gets an update
Apart from Nokia 3, Nokia 1 priced at Rs. 5,499 has also received an update. This update brings the April security patch to the smartphone and is touted to be focused on bringing improvements to the overall system stability. According to a report by NokiaPowerUser, this update to the Nokia 1 is available in select countries such as India and Iraq.
The Nokia 3 stable Android 8.0 Oreo update measures 116.2MB as per the report and users will get a notification if it is ready. On the other hand, users can also check for the same from the system updates section. When it comes to the Nokia 1, the latest update bringing the April security patch is said to measure around 142MB.
The rollout of the stable Android 8.0 Oreo update to the Nokia 3 proves the commitment of HMD Global in bringing timely updates to its phones. Already, the company had confirmed that the Nokia smartphones will receive two years of OS updates including Android P later this year. We can expect the Nokia 1 and other new smartphones in India to also get consistent updates in the future. This adds more value to the Nokia smartphones and makes them compete with the other brands.
