Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 receive permanent price cut in India
Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 revised pricing will be effective starting today, February 1.
Nokia has now revised the prices of Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 in India. The two devices are receiving a price cut of up to Rs. 8,000 on Nokia 8 and Rs. 1,000 on Nokia 5. So if you wanted to purchase the flagship device from Nokia this is good news for you as you will be getting the device at a much lower rate. You can also go for the mid-range device which is priced similarly to the Chinese smartphones in the segment.
As such, Nokia 5 (3GB RAM variant) which was launched at Rs. 13,499 is now available at Rs. 12,499. Nokia 8 which was earlier priced at Rs. 36,999 is now available at Rs. 28,999. According to reports, these revised prices will be effective starting today, February 1. However, at the time of writing this article, the price remains the same on popular e-commerce sites. The price cut should be levied on offline sales as well.
Nokia has announced this price cut just ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 where HMD Global, the owners of the Nokia brand for mobile will launch new models in the market. So it is paving a way by cutting the prices of older models for the new smartphones.

Nokia 5
Nokia 5 comes with a 5.2-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS LCD panel with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, which is paired with 3GB of RAM. The handset offers 16GB of internal storage and it is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The device sports a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF lens, and dual-tone flash. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel autofocus camera sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree field-of-view lens. Nokia 5 is backed by a 3000mAh battery and it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and the device has started receiving Android Oreo update.
The dual-SIM handset offers connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor.
Nokia 8
Nokia 8 is a flagship device from the company. The smartphone comes with 5.3-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Nokia 8 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC which is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The handset offers 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
As for the cameras, Nokia 8 features a dual rear camera setup with a combination of two 13-megapixel image sensors - one as an RGB sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), while the other one has a monochrome sensor. Both sensors sport f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 76.9-degree wide-angle lens and accompanied with a dual-tone LED flash and an IR rangefinder.
Up front, there is a 13-megapixel camera sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 78.4-degree wide-angle lens. All three cameras come with Carl Zeiss optics. Interestingly, the smartphone comes with a 'bothie' feature that allows users to capture photos or videos from both the rear and the front at the same time. Nokia 8 is further equipped with OZO Audio tech that provides a spatial 360-degree audio recording.
Nokia 8 is backed by 3090mAh battery and it runs on Android 7.1 Nougat but Nokia has started beta testing Android 8.0 Oreo recently. The dual-SIM handset offer connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C (v3.1), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. The handset also has an IP54-rated build that is splash-resistant.
