Nokia 8 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage finally launched

HMD Global launched the Nokia 8 in India last month and it came with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. However, amidst all the speculations, the company has reportedly launched a new variant of the flagship smartphone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The smartphone has in fact gone on sale in Finland and this model has been listed at DNA and Verkkokauppa e-commerce websites. This Nokia 8 variant is priced at EUR 649.90 (roughly translates to Rs. 49,852). Both the retailers are also offering the smartphone on a contractual basis and customers can further opt for monthly installment plans. Both the retailers have claimed that the devices are in stock and they will start shipping it by October 19.

In any case, today's news confirms the earlier reports about a Nokia 8 model with 6GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage launch. While the smartphone was spotted on the US FCC website earlier with the said configuration now it seems the 6GB model is official. Besides, now that it is launched Nokia might have plans to release this variant in other markets too. U.S. should be the first country where the company will launch this model initially.

Nokia 8 Features and Specifications

Nokia 8 features a unibody design and is made out of 6000-series aluminum. The smartphone is powered by a 5.3-inch 2K IPS LCD display with screen resolution 1440x2560 pixels and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Under the hood, the handset is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB/6GB RAM. There is 64GB/128GB default memory space that can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.

As for the optics, Nokia 8 comes with a 13MP dual-lens rear camera setup for clicking photos in RGB and monochrome. The dual camera setup comes with OIS, PDAF, IR rangefinder and f/2.0 aperture. Up front, the Nokia flagship smartphone features a 13MP selfie camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and display flash.

Further, the device is backed by a 3090mAh battery and comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. Nokia 8 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but the company has promised Android 8.0 Oreo update by end of the year. The smartphone features 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Besides these technical specifications, the Nokia 8 comes with other features such as Liquid Cooling, Dual-Sight, Nokia OZO Audio, and IP54 rating. The smartphone comes in glossy Polished Copper and Polished Blue colors, as well as matte Tempered Blue and Steel finishes.

The handset is priced at Rs. 36,999 in India.
