Nokia G42 5G budget 5G smartphone launched in India for Rs 12,599: All you need to know

Nokia has officially unveiled a new 5G smartphone in India. The Nokia G42 5G arrives as the latest smartphone from the HDM-Global sub-brand to join the country's affordable 5G ranks.

The Nokia G42 5G features a Qualcomm chipset, a triple-camera setup, a smooth display, and solid battery with fast charging support. The Nokia G42 5G also offers excellent software support for a budget smartphone.

The Nokia G42 5G price in India is set at Rs 12,599 for the sole 6GB/128GB model. Nokia has mentioned that this is a special "Launch Price", so you can expect the Nokia G42 5G price to go up following the first couple of sales.

Nokia's latest budget 5G phone will be available for purchase in India via Amazon. The first sale for the Nokia G42 5G will take place on September 15 at 12 noon. The Nokia G42 5G is offered in So Purple and So Grey colour options.

Nokia G42 5G Specifications

The Nokia G42 5G is powered by the 8nm Snapdragon 480+ chipset paired with the Adreno 619 GPU. The phone comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, although up to 5GB of unused storage can be utilised as virtual RAM. The Nokia G42 5G packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 20W fast charging support.

Nokia has equipped with affordable 5G smartphone with a 6.56-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 560 nits. The Nokia G42 5G runs stock Android 13. Nokia promises two years of Android OS updates and three years of regular security updates with the G42 5G.

For optics, the Nokia G42 5G gets a triple-camera setup on the back with a 50 MP primary sensor, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 2 MP macro unit. Up front, the Nokia G42 5G opts for an 8 MP selfie camera. The phone also offers enhance sound quality with OZO Audio, which also enables 3D Audio capture.

The Nokia G42 5G features a side-mounted fingerprint reader and an IP52 rating for splash resistance. Connectivity options on the device include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a USB Type-C 2.0 port, and more. The back cover of the device is made of 65% recycled material and has undergone several tests to ensure its durability.
