HMD Global is all set to unveil the first Nokia branded smartphone to feature an iPhone X-like notch on May 16. While an official confirmation is awaited, it looks like the promotional poster of the smartphone has tipped interesting information regarding its availability. The poster also reveals the full design of the handset. It also reveals that the Nokia X will be available exclusively via the e-commerce website Suning.
And, it sheds light on some of the aspects of the smartphone such as the dual-camera setup at the rear, a circular rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and the notch on top of the display with narrow bezels. However, we have already seen the full design as the company showcased it last month in China.
Launch date and time
Another individual piece of news from a Chinese publication has revealed a new teaser poster with more details regarding the smartphone and the announcement date. The teaser confirms that the Nokia X will be announced on May 16 at an event in Sanlitun, Beijing at 2 PM. The venue of the event is seen in the background of the poster with some cartoon images.
What's interesting is that there are supply drops or air drops all over the poster. If you play games like Fortnite: Battle Royal and PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds, you will be familiar with such supply drops. Going by the same, it is speculated that the Nokia X could arrive with gaming features. It is expected that there will be software enhancements to make use of most of the processing power.
From the existing reports, the smartphone is likely to feature a glass back with an aluminum frame. The display is said to have an aspect ratio of 19:9, a screen size of 5.8 inches and a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It is expected to have a dual-camera setup but the Zeiss branding is not seen in the render on the poster.
Under its hood, the handset might make use of different hardware combinations as it is likely to be launched in two variants. One variant is believed to feature an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The other one is said to be an expensive variant featuring an octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC with 6GB of RAM.
The base variant with MediaTek processor is expected to be priced at 1599 yuan (approx. Rs. 16,800). The Qualcomm variant of the Nokia X could be priced at 1799 yuan (approx. Rs. 19,000).
