Nokia X with notched display to launch on May 16
As far as specifications are concerned, the Nokia X or Nokia X6 is expected to sport a 5.8-inch FHD+ display.
HMD Global was expected to launch the Nokia X6 on April 27, but the company didn't make any announcements yesterday. It now seems like the smartphone will be launched in about two weeks. The Finnish firm took to Weibo to post a picture of the upcoming device. What's interesting is that the Nokia X6 will be called Nokia X.
According to the two posts by HMD Global, the Nokia X will be launched at an event slated for May 16. The photo with one those posts shows the smartphone featuring an edge-to-edge display with a notch at the top. The device also has a narrow chin on the bottom that features the Nokia branding.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Nokia X or Nokia X6 is expected to sport a 5.8-inch FHD+ display with a screen resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood, the smartphone is tipped to be powered by two different processors depending on the variant.
If previous reports are to be believed, one variant will feature a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset, clubbed with Adreno 509 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage.
Another will come with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor, clubbed with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage. The storage space on both the variants is further expandable using a microSD card.
In terms of optics, the Nokia X is tipped to feature a Zeiss-branded dual camera setup on the rear with a combination of 12MP primary sensor and a 13 MP secondary sensor, dual-tone LED flash. On the front, the smartphone is likely to feature a Zeiss camera as well, but the resolution of the sensor is unknown.
The smartphone is rumored to be priced at 1599 yuan (Rs. 16,839 approx) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version and the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage Snapdragon 636 version is priced at 1799 yuan (Rs. 18,946 approx).
HMD Global is also expected to introduce a modernized version of the Nokia N8-00 phone in the coming days.
