Nothing CEO Claims Leaked Renders Of Phone 2 Are Fake: Hints New Design With “Wait And See” Tweet

The first-generation Nothing Phone 1 was certainly an attractive smartphone. Its successor would be even better looking, implied Nothing CEO Carl Pei.

Renders of the Nothing Phone 2 leaked online recently. Subsequently, several social media users claimed the company didn't take pains to offer a radical new design as they did for the Phone 1. Nothing CEO Carl Pei called the renders "fake", claiming they were inaccurate, and added "Just wait and see" to his social media post.

Nothing Phone 2 Will Have A New Design, Hints Carl Pei

Nothing has promised to unveil the Nothing Phone (2) on July 11, 2023. The device will be launched in India on the same date. It will be sold exclusively on Flipkart in India.

Ahead of the official launch, the Nothing company has been releasing key specifications of the device such as the processor details and battery capacity. Alleged renders of the Nothing Phone 2 were leaked this week.

Following the leak, some social media users posted memes, most of which implied that the Nothing Phone (2) would look similar to that of the Nothing Phone (1). The company's CEO Carl Pei responded with a Tweet that read, "To everyone sending me this: just you wait and see". This tweet hints that the leaked renders could be fake and the Nothing Phone (2) may have significant design and cosmetic changes compared to the Nothing Phone (1).

The Nothing company hasn't revealed the second-generation smartphone. The extremely brief teaser released by the company suggested the Phone (2) has a slight alteration in the alignment of the glyph interface. This may have prompted the tweets and posts claiming the brand didn't take much effort in designing the Nothing Phone (2).

Nothing Phone (2) Confirmed And Rumored Specifications

The Nothing Phone (2) is confirmed to feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display. The phone should have an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Nothing company has embedded a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC inside the Phone (2), paired with Adreno 740 GPU. The smartphone may be available with as much as 12GB of RAM. Buyers could opt for 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

The Nothing Phone (2) has been confirmed to pack a 4700mAh battery, which should support fast wired charging. However, the brand hasn't revealed any details yet.

The Phone (2) may feature an under-display fingerprint scanner, USB-C port for wired charging and data transfer, wireless charging, and perhaps even a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The successor to the Nothing Phone 1 has secured India's BIS and UAE's TDRA certifications, which confirm the marketing name of the device is Nothing Phone (2). With a flagship-grade chipset, buyers should expect a significantly higher price tag on the upcoming Nothing smartphone.
