Nothing Phone 2a Launch in India Confirmed to Take Place Soon: Solid Upgrade Over Phone (1)

Nothing just confirmed the launch of its much-anticipated Phone (2a). The Nothing Phone 2a is expected to debut as a stripped-down version of the Phone (2), which debuted in India's sub-50K segment.

The Nothing Phone (2a) was officially announced in a YouTube community update by Nothing co-founder and marketing lead Akis Evangelidis.

While Evangelidis did mention that the Phone (2a) would be coming soon, he didn't provide an official launch date. However, we believe the Nothing Phone 2a will join the roster of smartphones arriving in February 2024.

Evangelidis also laid out the clear points of focus for the Phone (2a)'s performance, software, and cameras. He also pointed out that the Nothing Phone (2a) would be a "clear upgrade compared to Phone (1) on every single front".

The Nothing Phone (2a) is also codenamed Aerodactyl and will leverage the best features of its elder sibling, the Phone (2). The company's official Indian X (formerly Twitter) handle also confirmed the Nothing Phone 2a launch in India.

Nothing Phone (2a) Specifications (Expected)

The Nothing Phone 2a is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Moreover, the handset will run Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5. The handset will also feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

For optics, the Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to feature a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL S5KGN9 primary sensor with OIS and a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide shooter. Up front, the Phone (2a) could feature a 16 MP selfie camera.

The Noting Phone (2a) will also pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. Color options for the Nothing Phone 2a are anticipated to mirror classic flagship models, with Black and White choices rounding out the selection. We expect the Nothing Phone 2a price in India to start from under Rs 30,000.
