Nothing Phone (3) Design Leaks Ahead of July 1 Launch: Glyph Lights Out, Dot Matrix In?

We finally have our first proper look at the Nothing Phone (3)-thanks to tipster Max Jambor (@MaxJmb), who shared what appears to be a full-blown design leak of the upcoming flagship. And if you've been following Nothing's journey so far, this leak is bound to stir mixed emotions.

Carl Pei's company is set to unveil the Phone (3) on July 1, but until now, all we had were teaser-level glimpses showing abstract close-ups. That changes with Jambor's latest post, which pulls the curtain back just enough to get a good sense of the new rear design-and yeah, it's different. Very different.

Nothing Phone (3) Design Leaks Ahead of July 1 Launch

The Glyph Interface? Dead. Confirmed by Nothing.

Let's get the big news out of the way first: Nothing has already confirmed that the Glyph Interface won't be making a return on the Phone (3). That's right-the LED lights that danced across the back of the Phone (1) and (2), offering a quirky blend of notifications and flair, are gone.

In its place, there are murmurs of a dot matrix display-the kind that might show pixel-style animations (similar to the AniMe Vision system in the ROG phones). It could offer a new way to interact with notifications without turning the screen on. But in the image shared by Jambor, there's no sign of this new system just yet. If it's real, it's probably hiding under the surface.

A Familiar Skeleton, But a Different Vibe

The leaked image shows a phone that still very much feels like a "Nothing" product. You've got the transparent back, the exposed screws, and the kind of raw, stripped-down aesthetic the company has leaned into since day one. But this time, it feels like they're toning down the visual experimentation a bit.

There's a more industrial look at play here. The edges are squared off. The white variant in the leak features black-accented buttons. And overall, the design feels less playful and more polished-maybe even a little more serious.

The Camera Bump

Then there's the new camera layout. It's different. In fact, it's one of the biggest visual changes this time around. The Phone (3) appears to feature three rear cameras, arranged in a stacked design that breaks away from the layouts we saw on the Phone (1) and (2).

It's definitely a bold move-and not everyone's going to love it. Some people will see it as fresh and functional, others might call it cluttered. But that's kind of been Nothing's thing from the beginning: design choices that start conversations.

Under the Hood

While Nothing hasn't officially confirmed specs yet, Carl Pei has confirmed that the Phone (3) will be their flagship product. So, it makes sense that the phone will pack the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

We're also expecting:

  • A 6.77-inch LTPO AMOLED display
  • A 50MP main sensor with 50MP ultrawide and telephoto sensors
  • A 5,000mAh battery (with fast charging likely)
  • And notably, Android 16 right out of the box

If accurate, these specs would place the Phone (3) squarely in premium territory-something the brand hasn't fully chased before.

More Than a Phone Launch

The July 1 launch event won't just be about the phone. Nothing is also expected to reveal its first pair of over-ear headphones, expanding its audio lineup beyond earbuds for the first time.

No big details have leaked about the headphones yet, but Pei has hinted that these won't be budget gear. Expect premium positioning, and possibly a design that aligns with the transparent language we've seen so far.

Lastly, take this design leak with a grain of salt, as nothing (pun intended) is set in stone.
