Nothing Phone 4a Gets BIS Certification, Hinting at India Launch Soon

Nothing looks to be lining up its next mid-range phone for India. A new listing on the Bureau of Indian Standards website has revealed an unannounced Nothing device, and early signs point toward it being the Nothing Phone 4a.

While the filing doesn’t spell out any specs or visuals, its appearance alone hints that the company is moving closer to an official launch.

Nothing Phone 4a Gets BIS Certification, Hinting at India Launch Soon

For now, this feels less like a full reveal and more like a quiet signal that the Phone 4a is entering the final stages of regulatory clearance.

BIS Listing Hints at What’s Coming Next

The BIS database shows a Nothing handset with the model number A069. According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, this model aligns with Nothing’s existing naming pattern. The Phone 3a previously carried the A059 identifier, while the 3a Pro (review) was listed as A059P. This consistency adds weight to the idea that A069 is indeed the upcoming Phone 4a.

The listing itself is dated November 13 and doesn’t reveal any hardware details. Still, devices typically pass through BIS shortly before launch, which places the Phone 4a on a near-term timeline for India.

Likely Place in Nothing’s Lineup

Nothing hasn’t shared any official information yet, but the Phone 4a is expected to sit as the successor to the Phone 3a, which launched earlier this year. The current model arrived in March with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, a 6.7-inch display, triple rear cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery supported by 50W fast charging.

If Nothing follows its usual cycle, the Phone 4a should carry incremental upgrades rather than a radical redesign. There’s also speculation that a Phone 4a Pro could launch alongside it, possibly in the first quarter of 2026, though nothing has been confirmed on that front.

A Quick Look at the Phone 3a for Context

The existing Nothing Phone 3a launched at a starting price of ₹22,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. It features an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and is protected by Panda Glass. Its triple camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide shooter, paired with a 32MP front camera.

It also carries the brand’s signature Glyph Interface with customisable lighting patterns, along with IP64-rated dust and splash resistance. These details give a rough idea of the baseline the Phone 4a is likely to build on.

What We Don’t Know Yet

At this stage, there’s no confirmed information about the Phone 4a’s design, processor, camera changes, or pricing. The BIS listing simply confirms that Something’s moving in the background. Everything else remains educated guesswork until Nothing lifts the curtain.

For now, all eyes stay on official announcements, which should bring clarity on launch timing and how the Phone 4a plans to stand out in a crowded mid-range segment.
